Race report from Paul Lemieux
Over the course of late Fall 2014 through late Winter 2015, the Gravity RC All-Star Series was held at The Track at Harbor Hobbies, the premier carpet track in Northeast Illinois (the greater Chicagoland area). Multiple classes were run, and drivers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan made the trip, including myself as the title sponsor for the series.

Gravity G-Spec (Type C) pre-mounted carpet tires were the spec tire for Stock Touring, and the Gravity USGT pre-glued tires were spec for the USGT class. USVTA ran the tires specified by the class rules. Racing was tight in all three of the competitive classes throughout each weekend. Points were awarded across five races throughout the Series, with the best 4 out of 5 points (one drop allowed) going toward a total to crown each class Champion.

Each race weekend began with open practice on Saturday. Due to its unique no-subfloor racing surface, the ozite bite stays relatively high at The Track most of the year – even in the Summer when most of the regulars race outdoors. This makes things a bit easier for visitors to adjust to racing conditions, and most folks were well up to speed by the time practice ended Saturday evenings.

Sundays entailed a 3 hour open practice in the morning, followed by three rounds of qualifying and the Mains. The USVTA class was a fierce battle throughout the season between local drivers Kevin Kane and Ken Pepe, who ended the season tied in points – but the TQ/wins in two of the five rounds ultimately gave Kevin Kane the class win. The USGT class was dominated from start to end by local driver Kevin Kane, who TQ’ed and won the final three events of the season to seal the deal. The Stock Touring class was a runaway for Wisconsin driver Eric ‶Snowy※ Schneeweis, driving his XRAY T4'15, who TQ’ed two of the five races and outright won three of the five events.

The awards ceremony was held immediately after racing concluded (pictures below). Everyone had a great time throughout the five event series and are excited for next year’s series to begin.
